Bedford CAMHS entered a raft in the bi-annual charity raft race at Bedford River Festival on 15th July. The team 'CAMHS COMMANDOS' valiantly rowed the length of Bedford's Great River Ouse to raise awareness of Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services. The team comprised of Bedford CAMHS staff: Karen Dathorne, Caroline Athill, Marion Needs, Dave Morley, and Emma Harbour. Due to Helter Skelter injury the sixth member of the team was unable to join in but family member, Doug Payne, stepped in at the last minute.
Team member, Karen Dathorne, reported 'It was a hot day and the river was definitely the best place to be. We hadn't taken part before and were not aware that it is a tradition for teams to engage in an egg and flour battle at the starting point so we were completely unprepared! If there was a prize for enthusiasm I'm sure we would have come first, instead of a spectacular last!'
